Who is John?

John P. Bowers III is a proud native of Rowlett, Texas, where his roots run deep. Moving to the city with his family at just two years old, Rowlett became much more than a place to live—it became the foundation of his values, aspirations, and unwavering commitment to community. He attended Rowlett High School, where his dedication to excellence and leadership began to take shape.
After graduating, John pursued higher education at Morehouse College, earning a degree in economics and political science. While at Morehouse, he was elected the 88th Student Body President, a role in which he championed student advocacy, fostered campus engagement, and worked to enhance the academic and social experience for his peers. His passion for strategic problem-solving and leadership then led him to further his education at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business, where he obtained his MBA with a concentration in strategy. Through this rigorous program, he honed his ability to analyze complex challenges, develop innovative solutions, and drive impactful change—skills he now applies to serving the Rowlett community.
Yet, even as he achieved success beyond Rowlett, his heart remained firmly anchored in the community that molded him. His commitment to service, leadership, and strategic thinking continues to guide his efforts in making Rowlett a stronger, more connected city for all.
"John’s connection to Rowlett extends beyond geography; it is a commitment nurtured through a life of civic engagement and a deep understanding of the transformative power of public service".
Having witnessed the impact of dedicated leadership through the work of his mother, The Honorable Rhetta Andrews Bowers, John understands how meaningful change can be achieved by listening to and advocating for the needs of the people. Inspired by her example, he has always sought to uplift those around him, whether through mentorship, education, or professional leadership.

John’s professional journey reflects his belief in service and innovation. As a Senior Associate in finance, he plays an integral role in developing global workforce skills and serves as an advocate for veteran and military spouse mentorship. He has also served as a program ambassador for a Leadership Development Program, where he demonstrated his passion for empowering others. Additionally, John was selected as a member of the 9th cohort of the Dana Juett Residency with Social Venture Partners Dallas, where he continues to collaborate with like-minded individuals to create meaningful change and address critical community challenges.
But John’s dedication to the community doesn’t end there. He is the Founder and Co-Chairman of Establishment Fragrance Company. His leadership and vision earned him recognition as a 2023 finalist for the Texas Future Business Leader of Distinction Award, further demonstrating his ability to create meaningful impact.
John has a deep passion for mentorship and professional development, which he demonstrated during the Spring 2023 semester as a professor at Spelman College.
In partnership with the nonprofit organization Braven, he played a key role in guiding students through the college’s professional development curriculum. Through this initiative, John helped equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in their careers, offering mentorship in areas such as leadership, networking, and career strategy. His commitment to empowering young professionals extends beyond the classroom and into his community.

As a dedicated member of St. Luke Community United Methodist Church, John serves as a leader in the Young Adults Ministry, focusing on engaging and supporting individuals between the ages of 24 and 40. In this role, he fosters meaningful connections among young professionals and community members, providing guidance on faith, leadership, and personal growth. Whether through education, mentorship, or service, John remains committed to uplifting and empowering those around him.
John has been deeply rooted in the Rowlett community since childhood, growing up as an active member of the Rowlett Community Center, where he participated in the city’s youth basketball league. His early involvement in local programs fostered a strong sense of community engagement and teamwork, values that continue to shape his leadership today.
Now a dedicated member of the local LA Fitness gym, John regularly connects with fellow citizens, taking the time to listen to their concerns and understand the needs of the community firsthand. His commitment to service extends beyond conversations—he takes action. A testament to this was his leadership in coordinating a large-scale food banking service event with the North Texas Food Bank. Through this initiative, over 7,000 meals were packaged, with a portion directly benefiting Hope in Hand Food Pantry, providing essential support to local families facing food insecurity. John’s dedication to Rowlett is not just about being present—it’s about making a tangible impact, ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and their needs are met.
